There will be talks on Saturday and Sunday as well as a party Saturday evening at the Gerhardt/Hedden house. On Sunday there will be a panel discussion for the graduate students during lunch. The post-docs and junior faculty on the panel will answer questions about job applications, thesis writing, seeking mentorship, postdoctoral life, etc. Lunch will be provided for the graduate students and the panelists.
NOTE: East Lansing, Michigan is in the Eastern Time Zone!

The talks will take place in Wells Hall, room B122 on the campus of Michigan State University. Free parking is available on campus on the weekends.

Lodging:
A block of rooms is reserved at TownePlace Suites. Call the hotel at (517)203-1000 and use the code Midwest Topology Seminar to make your reservation. The discounted rates expire on September 26th. The following types of rooms are available:
Studios: With one queen bed and one sofa bed for $79 per night.
2-Bedroom Suites: With two queen beds and one sofa bed for $109 per night
Participants who are requesting funding to attend the conference should make an effort to share hotel rooms.
The hotel is located about 1.6 miles from the conference.
If the TownePlace Suites is full, other hotel options include: Gatehouse Suites (517-332-7711) or Quality Inn University (517-351-1440). We do not have hotel rooms blocked at either of these hotels, but both offer reasonable rates. The Gatehouse suites is about 1.5 miles from the conference, and the Quality Inn is about 2 miles from the conference.
Travel:
By Car: East Lansing is within driving range of many places in the Midwest. Free parking will be available both at the hotel and on campus.
By Plane: Nearby airports including Lansing (LAN), Detroit (DTW), Grand Rapids (GRR), and Flint (FNT). The Lansing airport is a short cab ride from campus. If you fly into Detroit you can rent a car to drive to East Lansing, or there is a bus shuttle to East Lansing, called the Michigan Flyer. If you fly into Grand Rapids or Flint you will need to rent a car to get to East Lansing.
By Bus: There is megabus service to East Lansing from various Midwestern locations (including Chicago). Tickets are very cheap if purchased well in advance. More information can be found here. The busses arrive at the Amtrak station on the southwest corner of campus.
By Train: There is Amtrak service to East Lansing. The Amtrak station is on the southwest corner of campus.
